Changes

When you live life, changes happen.

Change is good. Live life and embrace it.

It has been a minute since I came on here and posted a blog or anything on social media. I feel like since March, life took a turn and though I’m in the driver’s seat, I guess I never expected it to be as amazing as it turned out. So here are two of the biggest things that has happened!

If you don’t follow me on social media, then you probably missed the biggest news, I GOT MARRIED!! My husband (still so weird to say that) and I got married on April 9th in a private ceremony in Texas with both our parents and a very close couple who decided we were cool enough to be friends. It could not have been any more amazing.

I know you’re probably like “an Italian girl (princess) not having a large wedding??”. I was shocked too but COVID was a real mother. We got engaged in May of 2019, about a month before we even thought about moving to Texas. We originally planned on getting married back home in September of 2020 but to no one’s surprise, COVID. So we decided to postpone it to May 2021 thinking everything would be better by then. Well, when it came time to the final preparations in early 2021, NYS still had some intense travel restrictions in place and we didn’t feel comfortable expecting family to travel. Though we postponed it, yet again, to 2022, we decided that we wanted to be legally married, I guess our love just couldn’t wait.

I truly could not have imagined a better day.

There were so many memorable moments. If you ever watched The Office where Jim and Pam got married, there were so many mental photo moments! The weather was perfect. Both our parents were able to be in town. The judge was very Texas and just the most perfect fit for us. It was almost as if this whole getting legally married in a private ceremony had been planned out for years, it was so amazing right down to the flowers, cake, dinner, and some amazing photo skills by my dear friend.

The other news, if you also don’t follow me on social media, is that I changed the name of my blog! Crazy, right? I had been going back and forth on changing the name for some time, literally months. I had “hired” my parents, my uncle, and a few of my cousins to help me come up with a name. Some were very hysterical (thank you Stefania and Gabriella) and some were so beautiful. After some time, I finally landed on Sopra Mia Tavola which translates to On My Table. To me, it fits me so much better.

A little behind the scene action.. my previous blog name is also a restaurant name in South Carolina. When I decided on a name, they didn’t really pop up in my research. Though they did, it was not as frequent. Also, Ciao Yall at the time was a great fit for what I envisioned the blog to be. Well, I’m not sure what happened but their marketing efforts increased and anytime someone searches MY blog’s name, theirs popped up so much more that it pushed mine down Google. It was becoming increasingly difficult directing people to my blog without having them go to my social media pages first then to my site. As much as I love the name and traffic from my social account to my site, I did not want the experience to be difficult. The whole point of my blog is to help share and make it fun.

After a little push, a little shove with myself, I landed on Sopra Mia Tavola, it couldn’t be any more perfect. I love (goodness never thought I’d ever say this) to cook and share what I’m cooking. Since all my pictures are taken off my kitchen table (thank you home for the perfect golden hour positioning) I thought how more perfect of a name when I’m sharing what is literally on my table!

I hope that now things in life have settled a bit I can focus more on sharing more recipes and other family things. While my mom was here, we cooked a lot. I mean a lot. On her last day here, we made pizza sauce, fresh bread, lentil soup, and frittata. That isn’t even a quarter of some of the amazing things we made while she was here. So stay tuned for some recipes coming!!

I appreciate each and every one of you for sticking with me and encouraging me.

You all are my biggest supporters!

Saluti!
